A mobile laundry service brings laundry pickup and delivery to you. “Mobile” describes the collection and return, not a washing machine in a van. Your order is picked up from your home, processed, and delivered back to your door.
With wash and fold, the service handles the usual laundry steps for suitable household items. You can send machine-washable clothing, towels, sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, and standard mattress protectors. Machine-washable blankets, quilts, and comforters are also accepted, with pricing based on size.
The exact process varies by provider. At Rivers & Fold, you request a pickup, we confirm it with you, and we weigh your standard laundry after pickup. You receive the weight and total for approval before processing begins.

What Happens From Pickup to Delivery?
Here’s how the Rivers & Fold process works, step by step.
1. Request a pickup
Send a pickup request with your address, preferred weekday, and laundry preferences. You can select a detergent, let us know about a stain you’d like treated, and ask for certain clothes to come back on hangers.
A request is not a confirmed appointment. We’ll contact you to confirm the pickup details. Pickups are available Monday through Friday, and your laundry should be ready by 9:00 a.m. on your confirmed pickup day.
2. Place your laundry for pickup
Put your laundry in a clean laundry bag or a securely closed bag. If you won’t be home, tell us where you’ll leave it so we can confirm the handoff details with you.
You don’t need to sort everything into detailed categories or estimate the weight. Please remove items from pockets and point out any pieces that need special attention.
3. We weigh and confirm the total
After pickup, we weigh your standard laundry and send you the weight and total. You can review the cost before we start. We only process the order after you approve the total and payment is received.
If you decide not to proceed after receiving the total, your laundry is returned unprocessed.
4. We sort, wash, dry, and fold
Once you approve, we care for your order using our consistent laundry process. You can choose from four detergent options: Arm & Hammer, Tide, All Free Clear fragrance-free, or ECOS Free & Clear, which is plant-based and fragrance-free.
Stain treatment is available on request. Please identify the item and stain; treatment may help, but complete removal depends on the fabric and stain. If you’d like selected items returned on hangers, provide the hangers and let us know which pieces to hang.
5. We deliver your clean laundry
Your laundry comes back clean, dry, and neatly folded at your door. Most orders are returned within 24–48 hours after approval and payment. If an order extends into the weekend, it is returned the next business day. We’ll confirm the expected delivery timing when your order is accepted.
Who Is a Mobile Laundry Service For?
Door-to-door wash and fold can be a practical fit if laundry takes more time or effort than you want to give it.
- Busy families: Children’s clothes, towels, and bedding can build up quickly. Pickup and delivery reduce the number of chores competing for time at home.
- People without in-home laundry: If you rely on shared machines or a laundromat, you can avoid transporting your weekly load.
- People with limited time or transportation: Work, caregiving, and daily errands can make even a short laundry trip difficult to fit in.
- Pet households: Homes with pets are welcome. We accept normal household laundry from pet-friendly homes, though items with excessive pet hair, animal waste, strong pet odors, or pest concerns may not be suitable.
- Anyone who would rather spend time elsewhere: You don’t need a special reason. If you value having laundry picked up and returned, the service may fit your routine.
Wash and fold is for everyday machine-washable laundry, not every garment or household item. Rivers & Fold does not accept dry-clean-only items, pillows, hats, shoes, or items primarily used by pets. When you’re unsure about an item, ask before including it.
How Much Does Mobile Laundry Cost?
Rivers & Fold standard wash and fold is $2.50 per pound, with a $37.50 minimum order. Complimentary pickup and delivery are included.
You do not need a home scale or an exact estimate. We weigh your standard laundry after pickup and send you the total to approve before processing. Bulky bedding (blankets, quilts, and comforters) is priced individually by size rather than by weight.
