Laundry keeps coming back. Even after you sort, wash, dry, fold, and put everything away, another basket is never far behind.
That is why many busy households consider laundry pickup and delivery. The honest question is not whether laundry is difficult. It is whether paying someone else to handle it makes sense for your time, budget, and household routine.
For some people, doing laundry at home is perfectly manageable. For others, a wash and fold laundry service removes several small tasks that quietly take over the week. The right choice depends on what you are actually giving up, and what you would get back.
Where the Hours Actually Go
A load of laundry does not take only the time that the machine is running. The work is spread across the day and often across several days.
A typical household may spend about 3 to 5 hours a week on laundry when all the steps are counted. That adds up to more than 60 hours a year, and often much more for families with children, sports uniforms, pets, or limited machine capacity.
The time usually goes to:
- Sorting lights, darks, towels, sheets, and clothing
- Checking pockets and preparing items for washing
- Loading and unloading the washer
- Moving clothes to the dryer
- Starting another load before the first one is finished
- Folding everything into separate piles
- Matching socks and organizing small items
- Putting laundry away
- Managing the basket or “laundry chair” pile that never quite disappears
The machines may do much of the physical work, but you still have to remember what needs to happen next. A home laundry service takes those repeated steps off your list.

How Laundry Pickup and Delivery Pricing Works
Rivers & Fold charges $2.50 per pound for standard wash, dry, and fold laundry, with a $37.50 minimum order. Pickup and delivery are complimentary within our service area.
Many household orders fall somewhere around 15 to 25 pounds, although the actual weight depends on the number of people in your home, the type of laundry, and how often you send it.
Here is a simple example:
| Laundry weight | Standard price |
|---|---|
| 15 pounds | $37.50 minimum |
| 22 pounds | $55.00 |
| 25 pounds | $62.50 |
| 30 pounds | $75.00 |
You do not need to weigh your laundry at home. After pickup, we weigh the order and send you the total for approval before anything is processed. You always know the amount before you are charged. If you decide not to proceed after receiving the total, the laundry can be returned unprocessed.
The standard price includes:
- Complimentary pickup and delivery
- Sorting, washing, drying, and neatly folding
- Your choice of four detergent options
- Stain treatment on request
- Hanger returns on request when you provide hangers
- Acceptance of normal household pet hair on eligible items
We handle everyday machine-washable laundry such as clothing, towels, sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, and standard mattress protectors. Blankets, quilts, and comforters are accepted when suitable for our process and are priced individually by size.
The goal is simple: clear pricing, a clear approval point, and no need to estimate the weight yourself.

When a Home Laundry Service Makes the Most Sense
Laundry pickup and delivery may fit your household well when the chore regularly competes with more important parts of your week.
It often helps:
When everyone in the home works
If laundry waits until evenings or weekends, outsourcing it can remove a recurring block of household work. You may not gain an entire free day, but you can remove several small interruptions from your routine.
When children have school, sports, or activities
Kids can create a steady stream of clothing, towels, uniforms, and bedding. A laundry valet service can be useful when the volume is manageable but the timing is not.
When your home includes pets
Pet-friendly households are welcome. Normal pet hair on eligible clothing and bedding is acceptable, although excessive hair, strong odors, animal waste, or pet-specific items may require a different solution.
When you have limited mobility
Carrying baskets, moving wet loads, bending into machines, and folding large amounts of laundry can be difficult. Having laundry collected and returned to your door may reduce the physical effort involved.
When you live in a small apartment or do not have convenient machines
If laundry requires a trip to a shared laundry room or laundromat, the time includes travel, waiting, and carrying. Pickup and delivery can remove that extra friction.
When folding is the part you avoid
Some people do not mind washing clothes but consistently postpone folding and putting them away. Sending towels, bedding, or everyday clothing can address the part of the chore that creates the most frustration.
It is also fine if the service is not the right fit. A single person with a light weekly load, convenient machines, and enough time may reasonably prefer to do laundry at home.
When It May Not Be the Right Fit
A dependable laundry process also requires clear boundaries. We welcome household laundry, but not every item can safely go through a standard wash, dry, and fold service.
We may decline:
- Dry-clean-only items
- Pillows
- Hats
- Shoes or other footwear
- Pet beds and items used mainly by pets
- Items heavily soiled with bodily fluids or human or animal waste
- Items that cannot safely be processed using our equipment
- Laundry with sanitation, pest, safety, or equipment concerns
These limits protect your items, our equipment, and the laundry being processed for other households. If we discover a concern after pickup, processing may stop and the affected items may be returned.
You should also identify stains when requesting service. We can treat identified stains when appropriate for the fabric, but complete stain removal cannot be guaranteed. Items with missing, unreadable, or unsuitable care instructions may be accepted at our discretion.
What the Service Looks Like Week to Week
The process is designed to be predictable.
- Request a pickup. Send your request through the pickup request form.
- Wait for confirmation. Your request is not considered scheduled until Rivers & Fold confirms it.
- Have the laundry ready by 9:00 AM on the agreed pickup day.
- We pick up and weigh the order. You do not need to weigh anything at home.
- We send the total for approval. Processing begins only after you approve the total and payment is received.
- We sort, wash, dry, and fold the laundry using our consistent process and your selected detergent.
- We deliver the completed order. Delivery is usually within 24–48 hours after approval and payment. If the order extends into a weekend, it may be returned the next business day.
The service is a request first, then a confirmation, then an approval. That distinction matters. You are not committing to a final price before the laundry is weighed, and a pickup request is not complete until we confirm it.

Choosing a Detergent That Suits Your Home
You can choose the detergent that best matches your household’s preferences. Current options include:
| Detergent | Best suited for |
|---|---|
| Arm & Hammer | An everyday scented option |
| Tide | A familiar name-brand choice |
| All Free Clear | Fragrance-free care for sensitive skin |
| ECOS Free & Clear | Plant-based and fragrance-free |
Fragrance-free options can be helpful for households that prefer less scent or have sensitive skin. However, our equipment may also process laundry with scented products, so we cannot guarantee an allergen-free, fragrance-free, or residue-free environment.
If you would like stain treatment, please tell us when you request pickup and make the item reasonably easy to locate. If you would like items returned on hangers, please provide enough hangers for the garments you want hung.
The Simplest Way to Decide
You do not have to commit to outsourcing every load right away.
Try one recurring chore first. Send bedding and towels, for example, or choose the laundry that tends to sit folded but not put away. Then notice what changes:
- How much time did you get back?
- Did your week feel easier to manage?
- Was the cost clear before processing?
- Did the turnaround fit your routine?
- Would you choose the service again for the same type of laundry?
That is the practical way to decide whether laundry pickup and delivery fits your household. You are comparing the price with the time and friction you remove, not just the per-pound number.
When you are ready, request a pickup through riversandfold.com. We serve Minneola households and nearby local homes with complimentary pickup and delivery.
